A clean affair

rinsing
First, hold the glasses under running water. This will ensure that dust and sand are washed away and do not damage the surface.

soaping
Now it's time to lather! Take a drop of dishwashing liquid or hand soap and rub it onto the lenses of your glasses with your fingertips. It's best to use a classic soap or dishwashing liquid without any built-in skin care. Then it will be clean without streaks. Then rinse off and move on to the last step.

Another good trick: Fill some mild glass cleaner (without spirit!) or water mixed with two to three drops of dishwashing liquid into a small pump bottle and you'll be able to soap up even faster!

polishing
Now grab a clean, lint-free cloth. This could be a cotton tea towel or a microfiber cloth. Important: the cloths should not be treated with fabric softener or special detergent for black laundry.

Now your glasses are fresh again and nothing stands in the way of great vision.

not good at all

...these are classics for cleaning glasses and here you can find out why.

T-shirts and dusty cloths
Especially with shirts, but also with towels that are not fresh out of the washing machine, there is a high probability that you will leave nasty scratches when wiping the lenses of your glasses, and looking through scratched lenses simply doesn't look as brilliant.

Moist, packaged glasses cleaning cloths
They create a lot of waste and don't clean very well. They can also contain harsh cleaning agents that are unsuitable for gentle cleaning.

paper tissues
They actually feel soft and are gentle on the nose: cosmetic and paper tissues. However, they are not suitable for glasses. Strong fibers make the tissues tear-resistant, but can damage the coatings on glasses. Sometimes they also contain a nourishing balm, which is pleasant for the nose, but leaves nasty streaks on glasses.

ultrasonic bath
The optician around the corner has one, the jeweler too, and you can buy one for home use at the discount store: the ultrasonic bath. However, this is not suitable for regular cleaning of glasses and can even be harmful. Bathing is too humid, especially for 3D-printed glasses, and the strong vibrations in the water can even remove the coatings from the lenses.
